SUMMITSKILLS SEEKS NEW BOARD DIRECTOR
SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for the building services engineering (BSE) sector, is seeking an independent director to join its team of board members from 1 January 2010.
This is an opportunity for an individual with experience in the building services engineering sector who is passionate about skills to join a diverse team of board directors. The board represent the views of the sector’s employers to ensure that BSE businesses have a powerful voice when lobbying for change in skills and training structures.
Ian Livsey, Chair of SummitSkills, commented: “SummitSkills consults extensively with the industry working with employers, stakeholders and other key partners across the UK to ensure that all those who work in the sector are equipped with the right skills at the right levels to enable them to be efficient and effective.
Following relicensing, SummitSkills is now moving into the next important phase of its activities. Skills and apprenticeships have never been higher up the political agenda. The low carbon agenda and the identification of the skills needed as the sector emerges from recession are vital. The role of the Board in setting SummitSkills’ strategic direction is absolutely key.”
The commitment is approximately twelve days each year. This includes quarterly board meetings, one of which will be held in one of the devolved administration. SummitSkills encourages anyone currently engaged with the building services engineering sector, who has the desire, capacity and ambition to make a difference to apply.
Interested applicants can apply on-line at http://www.summitskills.org.uk/ by completing the skills profile questionnaire, or by contacting Company Secretary, Anthony Smith, on 01908 303962. The deadline for applications is 13 November 2009.
