RECORD NUMBERS OF MEMBERS JOIN APHC

APHC (Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors) has bucked the current economic trend, with many building services contractors deciding to join the leading plumbing and heating trade body. The Association’s advanced notification facilities have led many building services contractors to review their trade association memberships; in fact, APHC has been inundated with over 7,000 calls, emails and visits to its new website within the first fortnight of its opening.

With over 10% growth in membership over two weeks - and with the new members alone representing over 10,000 operatives - the Association is now expanding its support teams to provide the service members expect.

Graham Beevers, APHC President, said:

“The Association now offers plumbers, contractors and gas engineers the facility to notify all their work under building regulations for a significantly smaller fee, as well as offering high quality advice, contract leads from over 3,000 enquiriesa month and the standing that comes from being a member of a credible organisation. With the next round of salary negotiations in the not too distant future, membership at a reduced rate in these tough times has never been so important.”

APHC will continue to promote membership through direct mail, advertising

within the industry media, and improved consumer advertising in a number of media to convey the strength and quality of its members to contractors and consumers alike.

APHC’s Chief Executive, Clive Dickin, commented:

“For several years APHC’s members have found real benefit from membership. We have consistently promoted APHC’s members to both the industry and the public. We have also been committed to providing simple ways of gaining new business, reducing members’ administration and reducing members’ overheads. I am not surprised that in these tough times, membership has really grown. It is a sign that good plumbing and heating companies are looking for ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors and to demonstrate that they operate a high quality company.

“One of the cornerstones of APHC policy has been to open its doors to companies striving for success. We can do much to help them, be it through benefits such as  PlumbGuard insurance, or through our unique notification service that allows companies to notify gas systems under building regulations.”

In fact, non-members, as well as members, can access the notifications service to notify gas systems; however, members can save over a pound per notification compared to the old scheme rate.
