Major Consultation Announced

Much as the Board and Management of the Association have tried to prevent it, the sad fact is that Regional and Local Associations are failing. Now the Association is asking members to consider a range of ideas for the Regional and Local Associations - and to suggest their own ideas if they feel strongly about it.

APHC's Chief Executive, Clive Dickin,

explains:

“In March 2007, I was extremely disappointed to have to cancel five regional meetings because of an appalling lack of commitment and communication from Regional Advisory Group members. The vast majority did not even fill in a simple form or call us to say whether they could go or not, or to apologise for their absence. Having tried very hard to find a regional formula that worked, that was the final straw.

“Local Associations, although we are trying hard, have essentially stalled. There are very few active and even fewer thriving - with honourable exceptions of course and they know who they are. Consequently,

they are not feeding back grass-roots opinion to the APHC Board and Management about what they want and what the industry needs. “These two situations have created a fundamental problem that must be resolved. I understand that many people, including many Directors, have come through the ranks of the Local and Regional structure and have a great affinity for them - but difficult decisions need to be taken. However, I would very much like YOUR opinions and ideas. We are about to undertake a full consultation programme via meetings with members, questionnaires to members and publicity in Hot & Cold. We will then put proposals to the AGM so all members can have their say. Please do help us to resolve this situation.”
