EMBRACE RENEWABLES OPPORTUNITIES, SAYS NEW APHC PRESIDENT

Kevin McCallister has been appointed as the new National President for APHC. He used his maiden speech at the recent Presidents’ Dinner to call on the industry to seize the opportunities that renewables bring, and he committed to sharing with his APHC colleagues the expertise he has gained in this field from working for a global utilities business.

Kevin, who manages the Technical Services business within E.ON Property Services, said:

“The challenge that the E.ON business puts to me and my team is: how can you help us to reduce our carbon footprint? We have trained our plumbing and heating engineers to install heat pumps of both air and ground source, install solar panels and the necessary controls to make them run at optimum efficiency.

“I want the industry to take note that installing renewables is simply an extension of the plumbing and heating industry’s core skills. With some additional manufacturers’ product training, existing skilled and qualified plumbing and heating engineers have the skills to install this equipment perfectly competently. This is why renewables really represent an exciting opportunity for the industry, which must not allow niche operators with limited conventional plumbing and heating knowledge to risk tarnishing the image of the industry because of their lack of a broad range of skills and experience.

“I am proud to be President of such a prestigious organisation with a distinguished history and an exciting future, and I will use my year as President of APHC to spread the renewables message and ensure my industry colleagues grasp this opportunity with both hands.”
