APHC to sponsor SkillPlumb
APHC has become the new sponsor of SkillPLUMB, the skills competition run by SummitSkills, the sector skills council for building services engineering. The competition’s UK final will take place at Interbuild, a high-profile venue that will give the competition and its committed competitors the publicity they deserve. It also means a higher profile for plumbing skills and education in general. This competition takes over from the BPEC Plumbing Skills Competitions.
Competitors from across the UK will undertake a series of practical tests based on real-life work to demonstrate their skills and abilities. It will be a fantastic showcase for individuals, their companies and the industry as a whole.
Neil Collishaw, Head of Skills Competitions and Awards at SummitSkills, comments:
“We really appreciate APHC’s involvement and support. Everyone benefits from participating in SkillPLUMB - for the competitors, the rewards are fantastically self-satisfying; and for employers, highly adept employees contribute to the success and profitability of their company. The UK final at Interbuild in October will be an amazing showcase to profile the industry’s skills. We look forward to working with APHC in our search for the UK’s finest plumber.”
Not only will the competition promote the plumbing industry in the UK but the winner may also have the chance to compete at the international WorldSkills competition. More information is available at www.skillMandE.org.uk.
Major presence at Interbuild
APHC is working closely with the organisers of Interbuild. As well as sponsoring SkillPLUMB, the Association is playing a central part in the new Plumbing & Heating Pavilion, which is at the exhibition for the first time this year. APHC members who would like to exhibit can get a 10% discount on the cost of a stand.
Over all five days of the Show, APHC will run a drop-in advice clinic to which all visitors are welcome to bring their problems or queries, whether of a business or technical nature. APHC's experts will be on hand to offer invaluable, free advice. APHC has also agreed to lay on coaches to transport its members from around the country to the NEC for free. The exhibition runs from Sunday 26 October to Thursday 30 October at the NEC in Birmingham.
