Concerned that many plumbing and heating engineers in the industry are breaking the law due to not being aware of the number of their jobs that fall under Building Regulations and therefore must be notified to Local Authority Building Control, APHC is putting on free seminars to explain the situation.
Clive Dickin, CEO of APHC, comments:
“Building Regulations have been in force for many years and apathy has resulted in a belief that you don’t have to notify. Change in other regulations has resulted in many plumbers being left in the dark about their obligations to the law. Now, local authority building controls have started enforcing the Regulations with new enthusiasm and have already issued fines amounting to thousands of pounds. As the leading trade body for the plumbing & heating industry we feel it is our duty to help make sense of it all for members and non-members alike.”
The seminars are called ‘The application of building & water regulations in the plumbing industry - are you complying with the law?’ and the first will be held on 19 September 2007 at 7.30pm in Coventry. Aimed at West Midlands companies, it will be delivered by APHC’s technical expert, John Thompson.
As well as detailing all the latest changes and clarifying which jobs need to be notified to Building Control, John will also give guidance about the most efficient and cost-effective way of making these notifications.
