Why join Competent Persons Schemes?
Plumbing and heating work undertaken in existing dwellings is essentially very similar in its nature to the work undertaken by the glazing and electrical industries i.e. highly specialist, of relatively short duration, often classified as minor building work, both are examples of industries that have extensively developed competent persons scheme arrangements. Since the inception of Building Regulations, areas of plumbing and heating works are required to be reported to Local Authority Building Control Departments on a similar basis to the glazing and electrical industries.
Competent Persons Schemes allow you to self certify your work with building control as an alternative to submitting building notice applications saving yourself and your customer additional costs and time.
The APHC (Certification) Ltd. competent persons scheme is the industry's most comprehensive competent persons solution covering all aspects of plumbing and heating work including the –
- Installation of sanitary appliances
- Heat producing appliances
- Heating and hot water services
- Defined scope electrical work associated with plumbing and heating systems installation.
APHC is also unique in that we can approve contractors under the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 – linking the requirements of building and water regulations into the one scheme making for a truly one-stop shop for plumbing contractors and their clients resulting in reduced administration and paperwork.
